Military Seals in Border

Current and former U.S. military personnel make up a growing number of individuals starting or returning to college. The reality is that veterans, whether currently serving, just back from active duty, discharged, retired, or just starting out in military life, require a unique set of tools to complete their degrees.

At Kutztown University (KU), we understand your need for flexibility in programming because of time commitments and training/deployment schedules that come with military life. We understand your need for guidance through the complexity of scholarship and tuition assistance programs. We understand exactly what you need to get started, continue your education, and earn your degree.

You honored us with service to our country; we honor you with support and guidance to achieve your academic goals.

Why Veterans Choose KU

Veterans choose Kutztown University for the same reasons other students do. KU is a nationally-recognized military friendly school that provides an exceptional education at an affordable cost.  KU is a vibrant, modern institution that offers more than 100 areas of study, opportunities to study abroad, an array of living and dining options, recreation, clubs, organizations, NCAA Division II athletics and volunteer options. Our beautiful campus is located 20 miles from Allentown and Reading, 90 minutes from Philadelphia and two hours from Delaware, New York City and Maryland. But more importantly to you, KU has a Veteran and military-supportive atmosphere.

This supportive atmosphere starts with a committed and knowledgeable staff. Our Veterans Services Center, located in the McFarland Student Union, is your one-stop-shop that provides a welcoming space with centralized staff, resources and services.  Our Veterans Services Coordinator serves as your single point-of-contact and will help you coordinate comprehensive services. KU offers a number of services for Veterans, Service members and family members to make the pursuit of academic goals more manageable.

KU awards credits for military training, CLEP and DANTES according to ACE guidelines, provides financial aid and military benefits assistance, academic advising, career planning, and counseling and disability services. To meet the needs of our diverse military-affiliated student population, faculty and staff participate in sensitivity awareness training and some serve as Veterans liaisons in key university offices. You can broaden your horizon through Army ROTC leadership programs and participate in our Military Club activities.

KU structures our veterans programs and services with the student-veteran in mind. Our advisory board who consists of administrators, faculty, staff, military club members, local VA and veteran-related organizations, meet regularly to provide services that meet your need.
