Banking with the ID Card
PSECU stands for Pennsylvania State Employees' Credit Union. They have an E-Center in the Student Union Building where you can open an account, get your card processed as an ATM card, or ask questions about other services they offer. All KU students, employees, alumni and their immediate families are eligible for membership.
PSECU checking accounts require no minimum balance to earn interest, and PSECU provides free basic style checks, free overdraft protection, 15 free ATM transactions per month and easy to use mobile banking. Direct deposit your paycheck at PSECU. Use free online banking, and you never have to set foot in a bank again.
The PSECU E-Center is in McFarland Student Union, Room 280. Their hours are:
- Monday-Friday: 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Great, but what's that got to do with my KU ID card?
You can use your KU ID card as a PSECU ATM card, giving you access to cash 24/7 at either of two ATMs on campus (one in the Student Union Building near the Cub Cafe, and the other at South Dining Hall on the University Place side) or 29,000 other free ATMs. When you open your PSECU account, they'll encode your KU ID card to turn it into an ATM card.
But what if I lose my card?
The first thing you should do when you lose your card is suspend it to prevent fraudulent use of your Bear Bucks or unauthorized access to your dorm. Also, you should call PSECU at (800) 799-4337 to report the loss of your card. They will deactivate the ATM feature onyour lost card. Have your account number, PIN and card number with you when you call, if possible.
When you come into the KU Card Office to get a new card, be sure to tell the staff that you had PSECU ATM capability on your lost card. They will write your old card number on an orange card for you to take to the PSECU E-Center. PSECU will then pin your new card.
