Tenure Track Position for Orchestra Director
Kutztown University of Pennsylvania enrolls approximately 10,000 students in graduate and undergraduate programs. The University is located in the borough of Kutztown in a charming rural setting, and is within 20 minutes driving time of the diverse metropolitan areas Allentown/Bethlehem and Reading, and within 60 minutes of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The Department of Music at Kutztown University invites applications for a full-time, tenure track position beginning Fall 2014 for an Orchestra Director. The department seeks candidates with proven success in student recruitment, experience teaching a stringed instrument (particularly viola) and conducting, with other duties assigned according to departmental needs. Preference may be given to those with experience in any of the following areas: music business, aural skills and/or ability to teach in distance learning formats. A doctorate in Music is preferred; ABD will be considered with completion of degree by December of 2015. Degree requirements include Music, Music Performance, or a related field, and three academic years of related teaching experience.
Successful interview and demonstration of teaching, conducting, and playing ability will be required. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
