ABOUT SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASES
Students of college age, both males and females, can be at high risk for sexually transmitted diseases. Unprotected sex and risky behavior as a result of alcohol consumption are just two risk factors that can potentially lead to STDs. The diseases can be asymptomatic (without symptoms) at the initial onset and are spread through sexual contact.
All information will remain confidential
Screening will be done for both Chlamydia and Gonorrhea, which are two commonly seen sexually transmitted infections. The testing is quick and painless. The student must provide a urine sample and the specimen will be sent to a lab for analysis. The test results will be received in approximately one week. All students will be notified of their test results. In the event of a positive result, the student will receive both treatment and one-on-one counseling. It is the student's responsibility to notify any sexual contacts.
