Dining Services Update for 2015-16
Kutztown University Dining Services is excited to announce that the academic year 2015/16 will begin the next step in the Master Plan process of renovating select University dining service locations. The following is important information for the university community as we plan for 2015/16:
McFarland Student Union: The Cub Café is closed to undergo a full renovation and will reopen January 2016 as an all-you-care-to-eat dining facility. This renovation will include expanded seating areas and a new concept of serving. Aramark, our food vendor, will provide a more interactive service by open cuisine cooking to our community members. An upscale food product being prepared in front of the customer will highlight a gathering space where students, faculty, and staff can interact and socialize. Serving areas include, but will not be limited to, a grill, international, home style, deli, soup/salad, bakery, and beverage stations. Breakfast, lunch and dinner sessions will be served 7 days a week. While the Cub Café is closed KU will provide all-you-care-to-eat dining Monday - Friday from 11:00 am and 2:30 pm in rooms 218 and 223 of the McFarland Student Union. This year's meal plan will be able to be used in this location for the fall semester and non-meal plan holders can pay a door rate as well.
Academic Forum: Chick-fil-A, KU's most popular retail location, is now located in the Academic Forum.
South Dining Hall: The first floor of the South Dining Hall Golden Bear Food Court area will close as early as Spring Break 2016 for a full renovation and reopen in August 2016. The renovations include new floor layouts that include a lounge style seating area to eat and enjoy activities such as billiards, air hockey, foosball, and gaming stations. There will also be a dining area with booth, table and counter seating. Finally there is a seating area around a raised stage that includes a fireplace where events will be presented. The serving areas will have a facelift with some new equipment to increase food service and presentation. There will be a cyber-lab allowing students to use the social network or do class assignments. This dining location will become an all-you-care-to-eat dining facility.
South Dining Hall: The second floor of the South Dining Hall will be closed during the summer (of) for a facelift, which includes new paint, ceiling, and lights. This location will undergo a full renovation several years later as well. Finally, there will be a new meal plan program beginning Fall 2016/17. This plan, Anytime Dining, offers unlimited access, continuous service & extended hours (24/7 in the Golden Bear Food Court) and expanded menu.
Kutztown University will be the first Pennsylvania college or university offering an Anytime Dining Meal Plan. This program replaces our traditional meal plan program that our students found limiting in service and not cost effective due to the meal plan equivalence exchange in the retail locations. Anytime Dining is a proven success at other universities around the country. There will be additional information during the 2015/16 academic year.
